New Project Announced for Wright's Field MSCP Preserve - "Native Grassland Demonstration Area"

We're partnering with our local Alpine Girl Scout troop #6401, to raise money for our newest restoration project at Wright's Field in Alpine - a native grassland "demonstration area" within the preserve!
Working on their Bronze Award, the Girl Scouts reached out to BCLT about doing a project to "help our endangered grasslands" - of course, we jumped at the opportunity!

With only 2% of California's native grasslands left undeveloped, Wright's Field serves as a model of our once-abundant native grassland habitat.
But… did you know that the tall, yellow grasses we see at Wright's Field are actually non-native species brought over by the Spanish?
Once native bunchgrass and wildflowers were predominant here.

This "Native Grassland Demonstration Area" includes restoration of our native bunchgrass habitat, low perimeter fencing, and interpretive signage about native grassland habitat - all designed and built by the Girl Scouts for the benefit of Wright's Field!
